Lottery To Ask For More Prize Money
Oklahoma Lottery Executive Director Jim Scroggins has indicated that the commission may once again go to lawmakers after the November 4th elections to ask them to put more money into prizes.
Various news reports have indicated that the odds for more prize money for the Oklahoma Lottery are pretty much slim and none.
The odds against increasing lottery prizes were bad enough when nothing other than ultra-conservatives in the Legislature stood in the way.
With the current economy and the price of oil dropping like a rock of recent there is little if any hope of Oklahoma Lottery players seeing any boost in prize money any time soon.
And with Arkansas residents preparing to vote on a lottery of their own, we just might see more pressure on the Oklahoma Lottery, if Arkansas voters approve a lottery of their own.
While competition is normally a good thing, all states have seen a drop in lottery revenues when a neighboring state that lacked a lottery starts one. There is no reason to believe that an Arkansas Lottery will not draw some players from the Oklahoma Lottery.
This is especially true since the proposed Arkansas Lottery will have higher prize pay outs than the Oklahoma lottery, if the voters approve.
Here’s a few news reports on the issue:

Arkansas lottery could hurt Oklahoma’s game
