Oklahoma Joins Hot Lotto
As of January 5th, Oklahoma will become the 12th member of the Hot Lotto operated by the Multi-State Lottery Association, the folks that operate the Powerball Lottery.
Hot Lotto plays just like Powerball but with much, much better odds.
Of course with the better odds come lower jackpots and prizes but that’s just the nature of lotteries.
Hot Lotto is drawn on Wednesday and Saturday nights, same as Powerball drawings.
The jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is estimated at $2.74 million or $1.69 million cash value. Hot Lotto jackpots are paid out as as an annuity paid over 24 years (25 payments) or as a lump sum payment.
Jackpots start at $1 million. The record Hot Lotto jackpot, won in January of 2007, was $19.9 million which the winner took as a $11.9 million lump-sum cash payment. The majority of Hot Lotto jackpots are between $1 and $5 million.
